In the last week three friends have told me they cried when reading “The Long White Cloud” (and not because it was terrible). I was moved by their honesty and that they felt the same strong emotions which had motivated me to write the story.
Reading “The Sudden Metropolis” or “The Long White Cloud” is at least a 12 hour commitment, a big demand on anyone’s time. I’m glad that a growing number of people have found that commitment worthwhile.
The other thing to say is that ‘Toc H’ is real and I would recommend anyone interested in going the area to pay it a visit or even stay overnight to experience its unique atmosphere. This post comes with a photograph of ‘Rennie’s’ office (in reality Tubby Clayton’s) which has been preserved as it was.
